Dear D,

I see the problem...I am guessing the template uses XML, Text files, or PHP and MySQL to load the site's content?

The problem is that you cannot load an external SWF into Flash by using HTML embed code...but, in my opinion...maybe Adobe (used to be Macromedia) should consider that as an option..although they probably won't because of the possible ease of stealing other's Flash creations.

The Flash-Guestbook wasn't created to be loaded into another Flash movie. Even if your template provides a way to load external SWF's into the site, the variables for the guestbook would be completely messed up.

Flash makes it possible to re-use variable names while in almost any other form of scripting you can't. However, in Flash, if I state the value for the variable named "comments" in the main timeline, its value would be called by "_root.comments". If I then have a movie clip within the main time line that I give the name "mywindow", I can then use the variable "comments" again within the movie clip "mywindow". Yet when I need to get its value, I would call "_root.mywindow.comments".

So, by loading the guestbook within your Flash template, all the variables that were "_root.something" would then be "_root.somewhere.something" and all the scripting within the guestbook would be looking for values of "_root.something", yet it would never find them...or if it did find a value, it wouldn't be the correct value.

I am sorry, but we have made this guestbook application keeping in mind that not everyone has the same level of knowledge when it comes to HTML, or other web scripting languages, and attempted to provide a service of which almost everyone can take advantage. Unfortunately that simplicity makes it not applicable for every environment, just the majority.

You can always put it in another page...I know it isn't the same, but it is better than a bunch of BLOG site owners that are not able to upload files and therefore cannot use this service even if they wanted to.

Let us know if there is anything else we can do to help...
